The Pace facility at Salts Mill in Saltaire, Bradford was privileged to receive very special guests on Thursday 19th July when The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a visit to host a lunch for Yorkshire business leaders and local dignitaries.
This was a great day for everyone who attended, and a success story for the Morris family whose security firm, Jayfort Security Services Ltd, was praised by the Royal Family’s own personal Special Branch protection team for its contribution in ensuring the safety of the Royals.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were visiting as part of her Majesty’s Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom, and the lunch was held at the staff restaurant of local Salts Mill-based business Pace Plc. which has won three Queen’s Awards for Industry. Staff at the company were invited to throw their names in a hat, and those fortunate enough to be chosen won tickets to attend the lunch.
Local Dignitaries included The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Maggie Silver, Chairman of Salts Mill (and widow of Jonathan Silver who purchased the Mill in 1987), the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Dale Smith and his wife, and Allan Leighton, the Non-Executive Chairman of Pace PLC.
Graham Barker, Group Facilities Manager of Pace PLC said, “The overall day went very smoothly and the 7 people from Jayfort played a big part in that,” adding that Jayfort Security Services Ltd received “positive comments from the police staff that follow the Queen around and that was well deserved.”
This was a fantastic success for the business community of Yorkshire, and a very proud one for Jayfort Security, and the Morris family, especially the three members on duty on the day: Steve, Chris and Nikky.
Jayfort Security Services Ltd has held responsibility for security at Salt Mill since Jonathan Silver bought it, having provided security for the Silver family since 1982. A very proud Managing Director of Jayfort, and head of the Morris family, Jeff Morris said, “It’s not every day that we get a visit from the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh so to have the opportunity to help keep them safe during such an important visit for the region, was a real privilege for Jayfort and for my own family that takes such a personal pride in the business.”
